Pjs, friends, and lots of sugar.

Ladies and gents, it was time for the annual Christmas PJ party! Guaranteed a good time when we squish our favorite people in our little apartment. It would be a shame if I didn't acknowledge the life of the party... baby bulldog named Tiny.
Don't you just want to squeeze her cute little wrinkly body?

My heart is full of love for all these great people in my life. I'm already looking forward to next year's shindig: onsies & sugar comas... watch out 2014.

Peanut butter goodness. The ingredients for these cookies are perfectly combined for a gooey, crumbly, TASTY piece of heaven. Make them for your family, or be the hero and bring them to your next party.

Oh.. and these are EASY.

Ingredients
  • 48 Hershey's Kisses chocolate candies
  • 1/2 cup shortening (I used Crisco)
  • 3/4 cup Peanut Butter
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 sugar, for rolling

Instructions
    Cookies
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and line cookie sheet with parchment paper. Remove wrappers from chocolates.
  2. Beat shortening and peanut butter in large bowl until well blended.
  3. Add 1/3 cup granulated sugar and brown sugar; beat until fluffy.
  4. Add egg, milk and vanilla; beat well.
  5. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into peanut butter mixture.
  6. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in sugar and place on prepared cookie sheet.
  7. Bake 7-8 minutes or until lightly browned.
  8. Immediately press a chocolate into center of each cookie; cookie will crack around edges. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. (I put them in the refrigerator right away for 20 minutes so make sure the kiss was set)

Small Business Saturday

posted on: Wednesday, December 4, 2013

Eating healthy and taking care of your body is great and all, but every now and then you need to treat your soul! Sometimes a big cinnamon roll is just the thing to do the trick. There are a couple things in this world that when the aroma hits my nose- I cave.
Cinnamon rolls, chocolate chip cookies (pazookie style), and gooey brownies. YUM.

On a side note- the day I bought this roll was Small Business Saturday; so I thought I would support. We went to the Farmers Market and sampled all the delicious fruits, nuts, juice, chocolate, and pastries. The proud look on these business owners face got me thinking about what this life is about.

DOING WHAT YOU LOVE and LOVING WHAT YOU DO

People who follow their passions and dreams, through the ups and downs of it all, inspire me. They inspire me to do what makes me happy, always. I think this is an important thing for everyone to remember. As juvenile as the phrase is- YOLO. Since you only live ONCE, make it count.
Make yours a happy life.

Just a few pictures from our Thanksgiving break. It was so nice to get away from the everyday stresses and spend time with family. I love thanksgiving and the warm cozy feeling it brings. Makes me happy inside- not ONLY because of the potatoes, turkey, stuffing, and pies! I love how it resets my mindset of what is important in this life. The people we love and the blessings we have. Clears all the nonsense away, at least for a bit. I am grateful for so many things in my life and it's good for the soul to express that. At the end of the day, I was more than thankFULL.

I love this family...
I got the chance to spend the afternoon with them at this beautiful pond and feed the ducks. Nora is so shy on the outside but once you get to know her she is FULL of personality.
I so appreciate good friends and the season of fall!

My newest addition: Zoe Karssen sweatshirt.. in love. Sometimes there are those items that you just can't leave the store without. The ones you think about for weeks after- like a soldier that got left behind. Ok, that might be a little extreme. Anyways.. it's the best and I am glad I bought it.
